Little Span Farm

Little Span Farm, Rew Lane, Wroxall, Ventnor, Isle of Wight, PO38 3AU

Little Span Farm was originally farmed under the ownership of Quarr Abbey hundreds of years ago, and its records go back as far as Winchester College. At its highest point, you will have uninterrupted views for 360 degrees; it has the best sea views in Wroxall, and these views would have been even better in ancient times when no buildings interrupted the view. It has been conjectured that prior to any Roman occupation it could well have been an Iron Age farm and in fact there is thought that there is an old Roman site by a natural spring on the upper hills of Little Span Farm.

Little Span Farm is situated on the south west side of Wroxall and is currently run as a grassland farm which used to be part of the Appuldurcombe Estate.

The land has not had any pesticides on it for many years and could achieve organic status, it is currently in a Stewardship which will run to 2022 after which we will be considering best practices going forward in conjunction with ELMS and continuation of grazing sheep.
